What is DetectRight?

DetectRight is a combination of a device data search engine, an API for automatic device detection, a device detection engine and a toolkit for mobile device development.

How much data does DetectRight contain?

DetectRight holds up to 200 data points for each of more than 10 000 devices. Data is harvested from 15 different sources, ranging from UA profiles to manual corrections. This gives DetectRight more devices and data than other device detection repositories, such as DotMobi, WURFL, Volantis or MobileAware.

What are the main features of DetectRight?

DetectRight can:
- Handle requests that lack a user agent
- Analyse entire HTTP header sets
- Learn from novel devices
- Proactively seek out data
- Provide automatic updates

DetectRight is consistent, containing manually cleaned manufacturer and model lists.
We correct:
- Duplicate handsets
- Handsets which don't exist
- Manufacturer names in the model title
- Firmware codes used as model names
- Other errors

DetectRight tries to detect 100% of all clients, even web browsers, bots and spiders.

What programming languages can be used with DetectRight?

DetectRight allows download of search results and devices in:
- XML
- PHP
- JSON (for Javascript)
- Excel

DetectRight has multiple ways to access the data, so interoperability with most programming languages is feasible:
- SOAP
- REST (GET/POST)

Can user sessions be handled by DetectRight?

DetectRight correctly identifies unique mobile visitors and stores persistent data against unique visitors without using Cookies or session variables.

What are the costs?

DetectRight Standard and allows use of DetectRight's detection facility on your website.The API functionality is subject to fair use restrictions.

DetectRight Pro which is suitable for smaller web sites and research purposes costs USD299 for the first month and USD499 for subsequent months.

How long has DetectRight been around?

Mobile Phone Wizards AS was formed in Bergen, Norway in 2005. DetectRight was created, and we put UAProfile.com online to service the community. DetectRight was the first available web service for device detection, and is thus the most mature available. It was presented to the W3C DDWG in Madrid in July 2006. Device Detection is our core business, therefore customer service is a priority. We can also cater for specific individual needs and provide solutions quickly and cost-effectively.
